K2 the second highest mountain in the world is also called Godwin Austen. The name came from the British surveyor who mapped it in the nineteenth century. K2 is located in Gilgit Baltistan in Pakistan and has a height of 8611 meters. The mountain is known as the Savage Mountain because of the extreme difficulty of climbing it. Very few climbers succeed compared to those who climb Mount Everest. K2 is considered a source of national pride for Pakistan.
