Syed Ameer Ali founded the Central National Muhammadan Association in eighteen seventy seven to represent Muslim political interests during the late colonial period. It worked for educational advancement legal reforms and political awareness. The association predated the All India Muslim League and influenced early Muslim political organization and advocacy across the subcontinent.
